- Supervises/Coordinates all instructional program activities PreK-12.
- Collaboratively plans, develops, writes, and revises curriculum evaluation of PreK-12 curriculum with staff.
- Works collaboratively with Administration to identify instructional priorities.
- Oversees the development of long and short-range planning/goal setting and assessment of the educational program.
- Directs and coordinates a comprehensive in-service program for instructional personnel and assesses the impact on improved student achievement.
- Recommends and communicates with the Superintendent the professional development, workshops, and conferences that will aid staff in improving student academic achievement.
- Attend all meetings of the Board of Education and participate as called upon by the Superintendent.
- Communicates with the Superintendent the instructional requirements and needs for the academic achievement of students.
- Maintain up-to-date information on the latest research, trends, and developments in all areas of education.
- Participates in appropriate local, state, and national professional meetings.
- Assists in assessing instructional leaders in curriculum and instruction and the impact on improving student achievement.
- Participates in continuous professional growth and development related to district-wide instruction, curriculum, and programs.
- Demonstrates an active concern for the solution of educational issues.
- Establishes procedures for positive community and parent relations.
- Encourages inter-departmental cooperation and coordination within and between schools to ensure effective articulation at all educational levels.
- Monitors the participation of staff and administration in a variety of in-service workshops, school visitations, conferences, and staff development activities.
- Ensures that curriculum content and instruction are based upon instructional goals approved by the board of education and monitored through the school improvement process.
- Works with the instructional administrators to monitor school improvement programs and other district programs for student achievement results relative to cost for those programs.
- Ensures that instructional resources, personnel, and facilities are provided to facilitate school improvement.
- Ensures that building administrators are knowledgeable about established program development, decision-making, and evaluation roles and procedures for the district.
- Effectively utilizes evaluation measures of the achievement program through systematic needs assessments, follow-up studies, and analysis of student achievement and other data that provide answers to critical questions related to school improvement.
- Monitors district student activity programs that are designed in accordance with approved educational goals.
- Works with principals and curriculum administrators in the evaluation of elementary and secondary instruction methods and programs, and with them recommends changes and improvements as needed.
- Assists the instructional administrator in the articulation of curricula between elementary and secondary grade levels.
- Initiates and conducts meetings of principals and other personnel as needed.
- Interprets the progress overall of elementary and secondary school students to teachers, administrators, and parents.
- Initiates and maintains effective relationships with other school districts to keep abreast of new educational developments, programs, and ideas.
- Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as the superintendent may assign.
