Reports to

Director of Food Service and/or Cook Manager

Job Goal

To serve the students attractive and nutritious meals in an atmosphere of efficiency, cleanliness, and friendliness. To strive for quality and promote pride in all District endeavors. To fulfill the Mission of the District and the school assigned. 

Responsibilities

  • An individual who is optimistic, who sees events positively and anticipates the best possible outcome.
  • Able to encourage and sustain others’ efforts as they work toward goals.
  • Practice procedures in food preparation, use and care of equipment, and personal habits to ensure that sanitation standards are met. 
  • Attend job-related training classes and workshops, as requested. 
  • Follows standards of safety in preparing, storing, and serving food. 
  • Work on serving line, placing food or beverage on trays according to menu and diet requirements. 
  • Follow the cook/manager's instructions in producing and serving food. 
  • Follow cook/manager's instructions in portioning, garnishing, and serving meals. 
  • Participate in implementing promotion of special school and community activities consistent with Board policy. 
  • Maintain required forms and records assigned by cook manager. 
  • Report to all work assignments in proper attire. 
  • Demonstrate ability and willingness to function at all workstations. 
  • Participate in implementing cost containment measures while maintaining quality. 
  • Receive and stores food, supplies, and chemicals. 
  • Operate cash register. 
  • Wash dishes, pots, and pans. 
  • Sweep, mop, and clean kitchen. 
  • Slices and grinds meat, cheeses, vegetables, etc. 
  • Works cooperatively with school personnel, students, and the community. 
  • Carries out any other assigned duties and/or responsibilities which may be deemed appropriate by the Superintendent of Schools (or designee) and the Board of Education. 

 

Other

Performs related duties as required or assigned.

Evaluation

Performance of this job will be evaluated annually by the Director of Food Service with input from the Cook Manager in accordance with Board of Education policy.

Terms of Employment

Ten (10) months per year according to the terms established by the Agreement between the Superintendent and the Support Staff Association.
