| | Responsibilities | |
| | - Provides screening for students suspected of having a physically or fine motor related disability.
- Provides evaluations for referred students in conjunction with multidisciplinary assessment team.
- Assesses developmental levels, range of motion, muscle strength, sensory integration, daily living skills, needs and uses of adaptive equipment.
- Compiles reports and maintains records.
- Obtains current prescription for therapy from physician.
- Provides occupational therapy as a related service to students recommended by the Committee on Special Education (CSE).
- Provides consultation regarding students' needs to teachers, paraprofessionals, parents, administrators, and physicians.
- Serves as liaison between school, medical, and other appropriate community agencies.
- Prepares annual IEP goals and objectives for students and attends CSE and staff meetings as requested.
- Works cooperatively with school personnel, students, and the community.
- Fabricates and applies hand splints, trains students in the use of adaptive assistive devices and/or self-help techniques to achieve maximum independence.
- Participates and assists in the development of educational programs and instructs in-service education programs.
- Performs any other assigned duties and/or responsibilities which may be deemed appropriate by the Building Principal, Director of Special Education, Superintendent or the Board of Education.
