Job Description

Position:   Physical Education Teacher

Posting Date:   March 10, 2026

Starting Date:  2026-2027 School Year

Qualifications: New York State Certification


Reports To: Building Principal or designee

Responsibilities
1) Provides appropriate instruction within the prescribed curriculum.
2) Provides a variety of activities designed to meet students' academic, social, psychological and physical needs.
3) Administers a wide range of assessments.
4) Maintains accurate, up-to-date student records.
5) Is aware of changes in student behavior and seeks appropriate assistance.
6) Initiates and maintains communication with parents.
7) Exercises sound judgment and discretion in all aspects of professional duties.
8) Provides classroom management that enhances the teaching-learning experience.
9) Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and other personnel.
10) Participates in appropriate activities for professional growth.
11) Participates in relevant decision-making groups.

12) Prepares for instruction and maintains appropriate written lesson plans.
13) Focuses on student outcomes as the primary aspect of instruction.
14) Confers with students and parents as needed.
15) Works cooperatively with school personnel, students, and the community.
16) Carries out any other assigned duties and/or responsibilities which may be deemed appropriate by the Superintendent of Schools (or designee) and the Board of Education.

Other: Performs related duties as required or assigned.

Evaluation: Performance will be evaluated annually by the Building Principal, the Building Assistant Principal, the Curriculum Coordinator, and other administrators as designated by the Superintendent, in accordance with the terms established by the Agreement between the Superintendent and the Lyons Teachers' Association and Board of Education policy.

Terms of Employment: In accordance with the terms and conditions set by the Board of Education.
