Program Planning, Preparation and Implementation - Plans, develops and implements a program to meet the individual physical, mental, social, emotional and health needs, interests, and abilities of the students.
- Establishes short- and long-range program goals which are consistent with the general philosophy of the School System as embodied in curriculum guides, adopted textbooks and handbooks.
- Employs instructional methods, materials and resources which are conducive to meeting stated objectives.
- Prepares and records plans for class assignments in advance.
- Works with the reading teacher concerning student reading progress, evaluation, grouping, program needs and materials used.
- Diagnoses individual needs of students.
- Utilizes the adopted math, spelling, and language arts programs with an emphasis on individualizing the program for the children. Supplements with appropriate materials.
Classroom Organization and Management - Establishes a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and to the development of a positive self-concept.
- Develops appropriate rules for student behavior and procedure, and maintains order in the classroom in a fair and consistent manner.
- Organizes the classroom facilities and instructional materials to promote optimal use.
Evaluation, Record Keeping, and Reporting - Assesses the progress of students on a continuing basis, provides progress reports, and holds appropriate conferences. Communicates with parents and other staff members to bring about pupil growth.
- Maintains accurate and complete records as required by law, District policy and administrative regulation.
Miscellaneous - Assists in implementing school-wide policies and rules governing student conduct.
- Attends meetings as required (i.e., faculty meetings, parent conferences, etc.).
- Serves on established committees either on a voluntary basis or by terms of contract.
- Supervises student teachers and non-instructional personnel by mutual consent with the Building Principal.
- Submits annual budget requests to the Building Principal.
- Conducts and records an annual inventory of equipment and supplies.
- Strives to keep informed of the current educational trends in this area.
- Accepts and performs duties and responsibilities not ordinarily associated with the position in cases of emergency or when unusual or unpredictable circumstances arise.
- Performs bus dismissal duties, as requested.

Evaluation: | Performance will be evaluated annually by the Building Principal, the Building Assistant Principal, the Curriculum Coordinator, and other administrators as designated by the Superintendent, in accordance with the terms established by the Agreement between the Superintendent and the Lyons Teachers' Association and Board of Education policy. |
